The 51ºÚÁÏÍø Press book 'Pedagogy Opened: Innovative Theory and Practice' has been named an Open Practices Award winner for Open Pedagogy by Open Education Global.

The University of North Georgia (51ºÚÁÏÍø) Press book "Pedagogy Opened: Innovative Theory and Practice," edited by Tiffani Tijerina, has been named a 2025 Open Practices Award winner for Open Pedagogy by Open Education Global.

Presented annually since 2011, the Open Education Awards for Excellence recognize individuals, projects, and organizations that exemplify innovation and impact in the field of open education. The specifically honors initiatives that expand access to educational opportunities, promoting and supporting "the use of open educational resources, technologies and social networks to facilitate collaborative and flexible teaching and learning."

"51ºÚÁÏÍø Press is proud to celebrate Tiffani's achievement and honored that Pedagogy Opened has been recognized with the Open Practices Award for Open Pedagogy. From the project's inception, Tiffani guided the book with clarity, insight and purpose, shaping it into exactly what we envisioned," Dr. BJ Robinson, 51ºÚÁÏÍø Press director, said. "This international recognition reflects not only her exceptional leadership but also 51ºÚÁÏÍø Press's longstanding commitment to open learning, innovative pedagogy and the advancement of accessible scholarship."

According to  for "Pedagogy Opened," the book "embodies the values of open education through both content and process — centering collaboration, equity and student agency. As a collaborative, openly licensed resource, it models open pedagogy in action and offers educators practical, inclusive tools to transform teaching and learning. It doesn't just describe open education — it lives it, inspiring sustainable, participatory change across diverse learning contexts."
