College of Education
The College of Education (COE) is unlike any other in the nation because it features a unique mix of learning centers, institutes, and programs. We are the home for the and the Appalachian Studies Center, which was designated by the Georgia General Assembly as the state’s official center for the study of Appalachia in 2005.
Our nationally recognized programs in kinesiology, teacher certification, and graduate studies prepare students professionally for dynamic careers. Teacher candidates get more in-classroom experience than at other universities, while kinesiology internships often lead to job offers right after graduation.
Our faculty are dynamic and committed to teaching, research, and community service. They collaborate with students on research, service to communities, competitive grants, and international exchanges. We have a commitment to understanding education and health as human rights, in a context of respect and celebration of regional engagement, intellectual curiosity, and international mindedness.
