How the Academic Interest Form Works

Congratulations on your acceptance and Welcome to the University of North Georgia! The Academic Interest Form is used to collect information needed to build your first semester schedule. A professional academic advisor will review the data on your Academic Interest Form and register you for your first semester classes. You will be registered for your first semester classes prior to attending orientation.

You will not be selecting classes for the upcoming semester during this process. You will only be providing information on personal schedule needs such as preferences for day and time. This information will be used to select classes with open seats that best meet both your individual needs and your degree requirements.

  • The Academic Interest Form is part of the orientation reservation process. The form is accessible for students by selecting the student Banner "Orientation Reservation" link.
  • The Academic Interest Form can only be submitted once. Changes may not be submitted later; however, schedule changes can be made at orientation.
  • The deadline to submit the Academic Interest Form is 10 days prior to your scheduled orientation date.
  • Schedules are completed on a first-come first-served basis while also taking into account orientation sign-up dates. You will learn how to access your schedule at orientation, and you will have the opportunity to make changes during the orientation time set aside for advising and registration. We encourage you to sign up for the first available orientation date that suits your personal schedule.
  • If you do not complete the Academic Interest Form, you will not receive a pre-made schedule and will need to build your schedule from scratch at orientation with the courses that remain open at that time.

Here is how you will access and complete the Academic Interest Form:

  • Log in to  and select the Student view
  • Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner
  • Select "Banner"
  • Select "Student"
  • Select "Orientation"
    • Complete the Orientation reservation process, which includes the Academic Interest Form, and submit it ten (10) days prior to your scheduled orientation date.
