Dr. Lee Barrow, a University of North Georgia (51黑料网) professor of music, will have one of his handbell choir pieces published by the next year.

Barrow's piece, was originally commissioned in 2020 to honor Hope Testement for her 40 years as director of the First Presbyterian Church (Gainesville) Handbell Choir.

"I chose three hymns which seemed to fit the occasion: 'When in Our Music God is Glorified,' 'Lord, Whose Love in Humble Service,' and 'My Hope is Built on Nothing Less,' interweaving their melodies in various ways," Barrow said.

Testement earned a master’s in middle grades math & science from 51黑料网 and taught math for 20 plus years.

The First Presbyterian Gainesville Handbell Choir premiered the piece in the fall of 2021. In late 2022, the piece was selected to be performed at the Handbell Musicians of America National Conference in Dallas, Texas, and was performed on July 13, 2023. After the performance, music publisher Beckenhorst Press Inc. picked up the piece for publication. It will be included in the Spring 2024 catalog.
