1st Lt. Tristan Moran, '20, graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger School in September. He became the second active-duty Army nurse to complete Ranger School while in the Army Nurse Corps.

Moran, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from 51ºÚÁÏÍø, is stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

"Going to Ranger School was a dream. I wanted to use it as something to motivate people coming into the military. I wanted to show people no matter what your job is, you can do anything," Moran said. "I'm grateful that my hospital let me go broaden my horizons."

He wants to learn as much as he can in the Army.

"It's good to be able to be empathetic with infantry soldiers who come in with injuries. It creates a bond and common ground," Moran said. "Ranger School let me participate in their world and see everything they go through."

Moran was part of 51ºÚÁÏÍø's Ranger Challenge team, including groups that won the ROTC Cup at the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition at the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2018 and 2019.

"Being in Ranger Challenge prepared me physically and created the mental strength to keep going and teach my body I could go much farther than I thought," Moran said.
