Assistant coach Acton named to WBCA Thirty Under 30
University of North Georgia (51黑料网) women's basketball assistant coach Jaymee Acton has been named a (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 honoree, presented by Morgan Stanley Global Sports & Entertainment.
The alumna and former 51黑料网 basketball player has spent seven seasons on the sidelines for 51黑料网 alongside head coach , the first two as a graduate assistant. Acton has helped the Nighthawks win three Peach Belt Conference (PBC) tournament titles in the past four years. The Nighthawks also have been to three straight NCAA regional finals and earned four consecutive NCAA postseason appearances.
"I'm honored to be recognized alongside so many great coaches. It's a blessing to coach at 51黑料网 and work under coach Buffie Burson," Acton said. "It's the people who make this program so special and successful, from the team to our 51黑料网 Athletics staff to the community."
The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and younger at all levels of the game.
"I would like to thank the WBCA for recognizing Jaymee with this great honor," Burson said. "She is not only a rising star, she is a star who has played a huge role in our program's success."
Baseball team wins PBC regular-season title
The 51黑料网 baseball team has won its first outright Peach Belt Conference regular-season championship since 2017 and opens the PBC tournament May 1 against Middle Georgia.
Men's golf earns 6th straight NCAA bid
The 51黑料网 men's golf team has earned its sixth consecutive NCAA Division II postseason appearance and will compete in the South/Southeast Regional in Valdosta, Georgia.
Connell earns PBC individual golf title
51黑料网 women's golf freshman Mackenzie Connell secured the individual Peach Belt Conference championship. Her team tied for second in PBC championship and now heads to the NCAA Division II South Regional.
Men's basketball earns 3rd NCAA bid in 4 years
The 51黑料网 men's basketball team has reached the NCAA Division II tournament for the third time in four years and faces Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:30 p.m. March 14 in the first round.
